What to Say When it Can’t Be Fixed (Isaiah 40)

In counseling, we’re often called to step into situations where people’s lives have been shattered by sin and suffering often in ways where there is no going back to ‘normal.’ Whether it’s the death of a loved one, an unwanted divorce, a debilitating health crisis or a life-altering financial reversal, where would you point your counselee to ground them in hope and to keep them from shutting down altogether? In this workshop Bigney uses a great chapter of the Bible as an example of how to keep your counselee’s world from shrinking down to the size of their immediate problem.
